This Saleen is quite a rare example, being only 1 of 2 built in this specification throughout the entire S281 Cobra production stretch, which only saw 29 total SVT Terminator Cobras converted to S281 Cobras between 2003-2004. Thus, because this is based on a 2003 SVT Cobra, its basis is the 'Terminator Cobra,' produced in the 2003-2004 year range. In total, S281 Cobra production ran from 1996-2004, but the 2003-2004 S281 Cobras therefore have a different base car than those produced from 1996-2001.

Finished in 'Redfire Clearcoat' Exterior paint over a 'Dark Charcoal/Graphite' Interior, this example only wears one additional Saleen option: the Chrome Alloy Wheels. However, the list of installed Saleen equipment is lengthy, beginning notably with the Saleen Racecraft Suspension, comprised of Saleen Front/Rear Springs, Front Sway Bar, Struts, Bushings, and Rear Shocks. Saleen Mufflers and Performance Exhaust Pipes are also present, giving a distinct low burble that climbs to more of a shout at higher RPMs. Air Management was not ignored by Saleen, as Urethane components--including the Front Fascia, SIde Skirts, and Rear Fascia--are installed, along with Saleen Louvered Side Scoops, an S281 Rear Wing, and the Saleen "C" Pillar. Finally, Saleen cosmetics are appropriately scattered throughout, including Saleen Performance Driving Pedals, Badging, Plaques, and the windshield graphic. Based on a 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra, the Saleen S281 Cobra houses a 4.6L Supercharged V8 in its engine bay, rated at 390hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 6-speed Manual Transmission and 3:55 Rear Axle Ratio, the Saleen-installed suspension really enables drivers to get even more out of the powertrain and chassis dynamics of the Terminator Cobra. The Mach 460 Audio System is also present from Ford, along with the SVT Gauge Cluster and Compact Disc Player.
